Supportive Measures
Supportive measures, including interim safety measures, academic accommodations, and counseling services, are available to help those who may have experienced incidents of gender-based or sexual harassment, including sexual violence, or who are a Complainant or Respondent in the University's sexual misconduct grievsance processes.
Supportive measures may be implemented at any time, and do not require the filing of a formal complaint with the Title IX Coordinator.
Examples of supportive measures include:
- Referral to the Counseling Center
- Course-related extensions and adjustments
- University-issued and enforced no contact orders
- Modification of work and/or course schedules
- Changes in housing and parking arrangements
- Increased monitoring of certain areas of the campus
These are just a few examples of supportive measures. The Title IX Coordinator will work with students, faculty and staff to ensure that supportive measures are individually tailored to meet each individual’s unique needs.
UIC will maintain as confidential any supportive measures provided to an individual, to the extent that maintaining such confidentiality would not impair the ability of the University to provide the supportive measures.
If you have questions or would like to request supportive measures, please contact UIC's Title IX Coordinator at titleix@uic.edu.
